System Analysis

System Analysis

Sagrad specializes in the analog front end starting with the DAC/ADC and finishing with the antenna. First, we work closely with baseband communication system personnel to define and analyze the complete system. Second, based on inputs from the baseband system team, a complete system analysis can be created for key metrics. From this analysis, system architecture specifications can be obtained. Next, the system topology and sub circuit definitions can be resolved. Finally the details of the sub circuit specifications are realized. Each step often requires feedback into the previous steps as the system is refined. Finally, using the detailed specifications, a final system analysis is possible confirming that top level specifications are met over processes and environmental concerns.

Sagrad has completed system analysis using complex software packages such as HP-ADS. However, Sagrad has consistently obtained better results from complex spreadsheet calculations where full control over system analysis is possible. While this type of analysis appears archaic at first, the power of this method allows for rapid system prototyping. This type of system requires detailed knowledge of system modeling and allows for analysis not possible in prepackaged systems.

Matlab and Mathcad is often utilized to refine system parameters such as phase noise in PLL loops, ACPR in power amplifiers, filter analysis, and complex communication system issues.

Sagrad's expertise is creating custom RF systems. Often this can be a reapplication of core customer baseband technology into new spectrum or a prototype of an entirely new system.
